Open Positions
If you are interested in working with us, there are a number of options that become available throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more details on projects and routes to funding
Postdoctoral positions
There are currently no funded positions available. However, positions may become available soon and we are keen to hear from candidates with a PhD in experimental physics or a relevant engineering discipline and an enthusiasm to work in interdisciplinary research. Candidates who already have external funding or are interested in applying for alternative funding schemes are encouraged to get in touch for more information.
Postgraduate degree (PhD) positions
There are currently funded positions available for projects related to the descriptions in the Research section -
Quantum sensing with levitated optomechanical systems - FindAPhD link
Engineered materials for quantum optomechanics
We welcome applicants who have an upper second class degree (or equivalent) or higher in a relevant discipline, share an enthusiasm to learn a diverse set of experimental skills and are excited to work in a collaborative research environment at the cutting edge of technology. Good written and spoken communication skills in English are required. Experience in an optics lab or FPGA programming are a plus.

Short term projects / theses / internships
If you are interested in our research, want to get a feel for the group, or learn skills in photonics, electrical engineering or control systems, please contact us. We are always open to discussing potential opportunities to conduct a research stay in the group. Examples of projects include:
Programmable optical tweezers for manipulating nanoparticles
Feed-forward loops for optimal mechanical control
Optical spectroscopy of sub micron materials
Design and construction of a high-finesse optical cavity
At the Quantum Engineering Lab, we seek to build an inclusive and multi-faceted team. We encourage everyone to join us, and be yourselves at work.
